The Courage of Small- Italian Winemakers
I’ve long been captivated and inspired by the bravery and unwavering commitment of artisans in all fields that resisted global trends and honored traditional techniques. For winemakers in Italy, this means those who didn’t increase their yields or mechanize every facet of their craft to satisfy the demands of mass production, those who didn’t pull their native vines in favor of Cabernet or Merlot, and those who don’t cover their wines in oak to appeal to international palates. Most of these winemakers are not rich, openly flout DOC designations, and do not produce great quantities of wine; rather, they are people who are passionate about their traditions, their land, and their families and make their wines with love and conviction.
I am dedicated to supporting these winemakers. These families, many of whom have resurrected grapes that were nearly lost forever, are the beating heart and living soul of true Italian wine. I cannot wait for you to meet them, taste their wines, and immerse yourself into the magic of hyperlocal Italian winemaking.
